John’s grandmother Florence posing for a photo in 1984 at the Opryland hotel in Nashville where she was attending John’s graduation from Vanderbilt’s graduate school of business. John credits his grandmother for his love of wine. “She had wine with dinner each night, and would let me have a taste. From that I really had an affinity for wine when I got older” said John. She was also an artist and as a young woman used to paint in Carmel by the Sea.
2012 Carolyn’s mom and dad and her aunt and uncle on holiday in Switzerland circa 1951. Two brothers met two best friends at a dance and the couples married about a year after this photo was taken. A few years after that, they all immigrated to America, both settling in the bay area.

John’s mother(far right), with her three sisters and mother, circa 1940’s. The girls are each two years apart oldest to youngest. John’s mother was around 8 or 9 when the picture was taken. She currently works at the winery and is the first person you’ll meet at the welcome desk.
John’s grandfather, who’s looking a bit like a mobster with his stylish hat and jacket, circa. 1920’s. He was actually a civil engineer whose wanderlust had him circle the globe seven times.
