As the temperature warms up and summer approaches, I’m thinking about lighter meals, outdoor grilling and the upcoming release of our 2015 Grace Rosé. Rosés pair well with a wide variety of foods, as they have the acidity of white wine and the fruit characteristics of red. In particular, they are a great match with virtually any warm-climate cuisine.
Grace is made from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes. (GSM)
As Rosés go, this is a medium body dry rose that will stand up to big flavors such as such as anchovy, olives, garlic and saffron. It’s perfect with fish, grilled chicken and most barbeques
A couple of my favorite appetizer pairing ideas are Bagna Cauda, a delicious sauce made from olive oil, butter, garlic and anchovies. Use veggies, bread, chicken or beef to dip in the sauce. Our cooking class Chef Dayna has provided me the attached recipe. Another great appetizer to pair with Grace is a crostini with roasted garlic, goat cheese and apple chutney. The creamy cheese and little kick from the Chutney are wonderful!
Pizza, paella, and summer salads are all great choices to pair with Grace as well. John and I just made several pizzas for a family birthday. All of them were wonderful with Grace but we especially liked the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Oil pizza, the Caramelized Onion and Gorgonzola and the Spicy Sausage and mushroom.
Look for the release of Grace coming soon! Plan some summer dinners with family and friends and I’ll talk to you again next month!
