About Aver Family Vineyards
In 2005 we were fortunate to find a magical 8.25 acre vineyard located in the beautiful Uvas Valley, located at the southern edge of Santa Clara Valley in northern California. It was originally named by the Spaniards for the wild grapes that thrived in the area.
Nestled on the eastern slopes of the valley, we have a warming south-western exposure to ripen our grapes. In the evenings the cool coastal breezes and fog come over the southern Santa Cruz mountain range to cool the vineyard down. This allows for a long growing season with plenty of time for our grapes to fully develop their deep intense flavors.
As a family-owned winery, our company mission is both personal and professional. We utilize sustainable, environmentally-friendly farming practices to grow outstanding grapes. Then, with our remarkable winemaker, we carefully bring out the most intricate tastes and aromas our fruit can convey. Throughout the lengthy winemaking process we rely on the support of our family and friends who encourage us every step of the way.
What’s the ultimate result of this extensive effort? We hope you’ll agree that the wines produced by Aver Family Vineyards are among the best you’ve ever experienced!
Cheers,John and Carolyn Aver

Growing green

While many California vineyard owners have considered sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming, we embraced the concept since the day we bought the vineyard. Our focus is to naturally maximize the potential of every grape, and for us that means employing bio-diverse and earth-friendly farming practices.

After buying our property, we evaluated the vineyard and in particular how best to keep the soil healthy and vibrant. We committed to a no-pesticide approach, and completely re-designed the vineyard including budding over vines and adding native plant species to create a bio-diverse environment. |
Although it requires more work and generally adds to the farming expense, we believe that by going “green” we are not only re-connecting to the land and supporting the community, but making better-quality, more unique wines. |
